Dividing Polynomials with Missing Terms

In this section, we will learn about Dividing Polynomials with Missing Terms. When we have missing terms, we simply place the missing term in the polynomial with zero as its coefficient. Recall that zero times anything is zero and adding zero to a term leaves it unchanged. Once we have set up the long division with zero as the coefficient for any missing terms, we divide as we normally would. We place our dividend under the house and our divisor to the left of the house. Once this is completed, we use the same DMSBR (dad, mom, sister, brother, rover) method from long division with whole numbers. Recall this stands for divide, multiply, subtract, bring down, repeat or remainder.
