 GreeneMath.com - Multiplying & Dividing Integers Lesson

# In this Section:

In this section, we learn how to multiply and divide with integers. When we multiply or divide with integers involved, we first have to determine the sign. We can do this knowing two simple rules: 1) (+)(-) or (-)(+) = (-) : 2) (+)(+) or (-)(-) = (+). Basically, if the signs are the same, the answer is positive. If the signs are different the answer is negative. Once we determine the sign, we multiply or divide with the absolute values and then attach the known sign to the result. In the case of multiplying more than two integers, you count the number of negatives. If this number is odd, the answer is negative; if the answer is even, the answer is positive.
