Dividing Polynomials

In this section, we continue to learn about Dividing Polynomials. Now that we know how to divide a polynomial by a monomial, we are ready to divide a polynomial by another polynomial that is not a monomial. The process is very similar to long division with whole numbers. We begin by placing each polynomial in standard form. We then draw our traditional long division symbol, which we refer to as “the house”. We place our dividend under the house and our divisor to the left of the house. Once this is completed, we use the same DMSBR (dad, mom, sister, brother, rover) method from long division with whole numbers. Recall this stands for divide, multiply, subtract, bring down, repeat or remainder.
