In this section, we wrap up our course on Algebra I. We conclude by learning a general formula for solving any quadratic equation. This formula is known as the “Quadratic Formula”. We get the quadratic formula as the solution to a quadratic equation in standard form: $$ax^2 + bx + c=0$$ We solve this equation by completing the square, factoring, and using the square root property. We can use this formula to solve any quadratic equation. We simply write the equation in standard form: $$ax^2 + bx + c=0$$ Afterwards, we record the values for a, b, and c. We then plug them into the quadratic formula and evaluate.
Quadratic Formula: $$\frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}$$
