Graphing Rational Functions
About:
Additional Resources:
In this lesson, we will learn how to graph rational functions. We will begin by reviewing the concept of the domain of a rational function. Recall that we can't divide by zero, so any value of x that makes the denominator zero must be excluded from the domain. Additionally, we will learn how to graph transformations of y = 1/x and y = 1/x2. From there, we will learn how to find asymptotes and holes in the graph of a rational function. We will finish up the lesson by giving a procedure for how to create a rough sketch of the graph for a rational function.
