Finding the Slope of a Line

About:
Additional Resources:

In this lesson, we learn how to find the slope of a line, given two points on the line, using our slope formula. The slope formula is derived by looking at the change in y-values over the change in x-values. Given that we have two points on the line and one is (x1,y1) and the other is (x2,y2), then m our slope is equal to (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1). Additionally, we will think about the slope of horizontal and vertical lines. Horizontal lines have slopes that are zero and vertical lines have undefined slopes. Lastly, we will look at how to find the slope of a line by placing the line in slope-intercept form. In this form, we have that y = mx + b, where m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept.
