Conic Sections: The Hyperbola

In this lesson, we will learn how to work with hyperbolas. First and foremost, we will talk about how to sketch the graph. We do this by plotting our vertices and graphing our asymptotes. Each branch of the hyperbola goes through the vertex and approaches the asymptote. Additionally, we will learn how to find the foci, convert equations in general form to standard form by completing the square, and find the equation of a hyperbola given the foci and the vertices.
