Finding the Mean (Average):

  1. Find the sum of all numbers in the group
  2. Divide the sum by the number (quantity) of numbers in the group

Finding the Median of a Group of Numbers:

  1. Arrange the numbers from least to greatest
  2. If the number (quantity) of numbers in the group (n) is:
    • odd » the median is the middle number
    • position (n + 1)/2
    • even » the median is the average of the two middle numbers
    • Find the average of the numbers in positions (n + 1)/2 ± 1/2

Finding the Mode:

  1. It is helpful to arrange the numbers from least to greatest
  2. It is helpful to create a table to organize each number and its frequency
  3. The mode is the number or numbers that occur most often
